You have to stay on the Rock!
Psalms 40.1-5. " I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.  He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.  And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.  Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.  Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered."   Hi all! These passages of the Psalmist that we just read refers to what happens in the life of a man when he puts his trust in God. It is an invitation to us today to base our lives on the infallible Lord God, who is the Alpha and Omega of our lives, the one who has the last word in our lives! We will see when we  reading what the is the Roc   and the importance  to remain on the Rock. The Rock • The Lord is the Rock on which we trust. "There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. (1 Samuel 2.2)" • The Roc is eternal, infallible, stable, solid, unwavering, indestructible, unchangeable. "Trust in the LORD for ever: for the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. (Isaiah 26.4)" • The Roc is the word of God. "O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.  I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. 100 I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts. I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.  I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me. How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.  Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.(Psalm 119.97-105)" • Our faith, our life, our destiny, our projects, our families must be based on the Rock Jesus Christ. "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.  (Matthew 7.24-25) ... Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. (Psalm 127.1). " • When we face adversity, tests, headwinds, we must remain on the Rock, be inked, rooted in the Roc! "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. 4 Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.  (Psalm 40.2-4) ... And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:  ( Exodus 33:22) " • We need to stay focused on the rock in our walk with God. "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12.2) " Why should-we stand on the Roc? . • To ensure our protection. "For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. (Psalm 27.5) ... Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.  Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.  Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. (Psalm 31.2-5) ... But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge. (Psalm 94.22). ". • To preserve our salvation in Christ. "Come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. (Psalm 95.1)" • To remain in truth and integrity. "For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. (2 Corinthians 13.8) ... He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? (Micah 6.8) " • For  the Lord  approves our lives. "Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. (Isaiah 51.1)" . • To see the glory of God, "And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. 19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. 20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. 21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: (Exodus 33.18-21) " • To remain in the victory and triumph in our struggles and challenges. " Of David. Blessed be the LORD, my rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle (Psalm 144.1)" How to stay on the Rock? 1. By reading and putting into practice the word of God " This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (Joshua 1.8) " 2. In proclaiming the power of the word of God when we face the opposition, the trials and adversity. " The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. (Proverbs 10.11) ... The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them. ( Proverbs 12.6) " Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) (Hebrews 10.22-23) " Pst.
